Sibuyan Island, Romblon, Philippines — Netbank (A Rural Bank), Inc., in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office MIMAROPA through its Sustainable Livelihood Program, conducted a QR Ph digital payment orientation for Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations in Sibuyan Island on June 1, 2026.

The initiative supports DSWD’s continuing efforts to promote digital financial inclusion and strengthen community-based livelihood groups through accessible financial technologies. It also reflects Netbank’s commitment to helping communities and partner organizations adopt practical digital banking solutions that make everyday financial transactions more efficient and secure.

Supporting SLPAs with Digital Banking

The orientation was attended by 25 SLPA presidents from the municipalities of Cajidiocan and San Fernando. The participating associations maintain active Netbank accounts, enabling them to access essential banking services for managing livelihood funds, receiving payments, and conducting financial transactions.

As the only banking institution serving Sibuyan Island, Netbank plays an important role in expanding access to financial services for local communities, livelihood groups, and partner organizations. Through its digital banking capabilities, Netbank supports SLPAs in shifting from cash-heavy processes to more convenient and traceable digital transactions.

Promoting QR Ph for Cashless Payments

During the session, Netbank representatives discussed how QR Ph can be used for cashless payments, fund transfers, and other digital banking activities. Participants were also guided on QR-based onboarding and how digital payment tools can help improve the day-to-day operations of their livelihood associations.

By introducing QR Ph-enabled services to SLPAs, the initiative aims to reduce reliance on cash, improve transaction efficiency, and support safer financial practices within local communities.

Building a More Inclusive Livelihood Ecosystem

The collaboration between Netbank and DSWD MIMAROPA contributes to building a more inclusive and cashless livelihood ecosystem for Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations. Through digital payment adoption, SLPAs can strengthen financial management practices, improve access to banking services, and support the long-term sustainability of their livelihood activities.
